Hey Todd, thanks for this one! Uncle Salty is my favorite song off my favorite Aerosmith album:) The chorus is why I love this song...a couple of lovely "feel good measures" of goodness to listen to while driving on a beautiful summer day! Lol, once you start picking up a great feeling/sounding short scale bass, they are so much easier on the body to play, they become rather addicting:) I've been pretty much playing my Sterling Short scale stingray exclusively ever since I brought it home 3 1/2 yrs ago:) Even my Lakland sits in it's case😳

Hey Todd! Great choice! Right before The Clash, The Jam and Elvis (with Bruce Thomas) came ashore, I was a big fan of early Aerosmith. I love this bass line because it is, at once, active and airy. Is it just me or did Aerosmith go through a period where many of their songs ended in a repeating pattern during the fade? Wishing you the best! Chris PS - I'm still hoping you've got Graham Baby of Joe Jackson's Band somewhere in your queue. I tried to come up with the one definitive Maby bass line but they're all fantastic!

Just realized this morning what a great bass line this song has.

The bass on the recording was the late Wayne Douglas who played a lot of sessions back in the day. It was not unusual for a musician to play a session and not have his name mentioned in the LP liner notes. Douglas' first hit was "A Little Togetherness" by The Younghearts, which he co-wrote with Jerry Peters, who produced "Misdemeanor" and Bobby Sanders of The Younghearts. He appears on a live Martha & The Vandellas LP and was once a member of Jerry Butler's Ice Man Band, in addition to many other projects. Douglas passed away in 2016, with few knowing of his work on "Misdemeanor." (Great job, by the way, though I am not a bassist..just a music lover.)

Lord I've heard this intro being murdered so many times over the years. Once I learned it correctly I actually had other players ask me to show it to them. I'll be honest I murdered it for a few years before I took the time to really learn it. LOL!
